The news relating to fake eggs being sold in China has been reported by KanZhongGuo (the Chinese language site of Secret China) many times in the past few years. When the poisoned milk scandal was disclosed just after the Beijing Olympics, cases of fake eggs were also raised by Chinese people who have become victims of fake products.
A Japanese television crew have investigated the making of fake eggs, and their results are shown in the following clip.
