Datuk Seri Shahrizat Jalil mengesahkan pelantikannya sebagai penasihat kepada Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Razak untuk menguruskan hal ehwal wanita.
Bekas Menteri Pembangunan Wanita, Keluarga dan Masyarakat itu akhirnya memberikan respon berhubung desas-desus pelantikannya yang mula dilaporkan oleh media semalam.
“Ya, saya adalah penasihat kepada Jabatan Perdana Menteri,” katanya dalam satu mesej kiriman ringkas (SMS) kepada The Malaysian Insider.
Rafizi menyifatkan Najib sebagai amat terdesak kerana melantik Shahrizat oleh itu beliau terpaksa mengutip sesiapa sahaja menyertai kumpulannya bagi menentang kumpulan yang dikatakan akan menentangnya walaupun individu itu jelas ditolak oleh ramai..
“People should read between the lines with regard to her appointment,”
“The Prime Minister knows his position in Umno is shaky. That is why he is collecting people who can be in his team against anyone challenging his presidency.
“Unless you are really desperate, you would not have chosen Shahrizat, whose rejection by the people is clear.” ~ Free Malaysia Today
Ketua Wanita PKR Zuraida Kamaruddin pula menyatakan bahawa ini adalah kali kedua Najib telah memilih untuk melantik Sharizat menjadi penasihat khas sejak beliau sejak berhenti dari jawatan menteri setelah terpalit dengan skandal NFC.. dan menyifatkannya sebagai hanya membuang duit.
“It looks like the Prime Minister just cannot get away from Shahrizat,” she said.
“It is as though he owes her something, and I cannot figure out what exactly it is.”
She alleged that Shahrizat was ineffective when she was a minister and not likely to do any better as Najib’s adviser.
“Her appointment is just a waste of money.”
She speculated that Najib was merely giving her a platform to defend her leadership of Wanita Umno in the coming party polls.. ~ Free Malaysia Today
Naib Presiden PKR N. Surendran mengatakan perlantikan Shahrizat sebagai Penasihat Khas Najib adalah bukti jelas Najib tunduk kepada tekanan panglima-panglima perang dalam UMNO yang menyebabkan Najib takut untuk pinggirkan Shahrizat.
“He dare not sideline Shahrizat because of her political influence in Umno,” he told.
Surendran added that it was “unhealthy” for the country’s political culture for Shahrizat’s alleged return to power through the “backdoor”.
“She has now entered through the backdoor,” he said, noting that Shahrizat was previously “forced to relinquish” her Cabinet position after the National Feedlot Centre (NFC) scandal involving her family members.

Ketua Wanita DAP Chong Eng pula mencadangkan bahawa langkah itu bertujuan membantu Shahrizat mengekalkan jawatan Ketua Wanita Umno dan dalam masa yang sama meningkatkan usaha Najib untuk mempertahankan jawatan presiden Umno itu.
Chong Eng juga menyifatkan perlantikan ini sebagai penghinaan kepada Datuk Rohani Abdul Karim
“This is to give her position, the resources so she can sustain in Umno election, can help him to win in election, to have her as his team,” the Bukit Mertajam MP said.
Chong questioned the move, describing Shahrizat’s new role as being “redundant”, pointing out that there is already a minister playing the same role.
“We already have minister on women, family and community development,” she said, adding that Shahrizat’s appointment appeared to be an “insult” to Datuk Rohani Abdul Karim who is currently holding that portfolio ~ The Malay Mail Online
Naib Presiden PAS Datuk Mahfuz Omar juga mengaitkan perlantikan itu dengan pemilihan agung UMNO dan hanya membuang duit katanya..
“To me, this is more for positioning Wanita Umno for Shahrizat and more towards helping Shahrizat to continue to hold the post of Wanita chief that will be challenged by Azalina,” he said, referring to former minister Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said, who had openly declared her intention to gun for the women wing’s top post.
Mahfuz claimed the prime minister’s administration was “weak” because of his apparent need for many advisers.
He also criticised Shahrizat’s appointment which he viewed as being a waste of public funds.“We already have a women minister, is there a need for an adviser?” the Pokok Sena MP asked ~ The Malay Mail Online
Ulasan paling menarik tentang perlantikan Sharizat ini datangnya dari Ketua UMNO Bahagian Cheras, Syed Ali Alhabshee..
“I can only say congratulations. It is the Prime Minister’s right to appoint her as special adviser.
“We’ll just see what’s going to happen. However, I hope that she will welcome new faces to contest against her in the upcoming party election.”
